Student Prompt: Write a short (1-3 paragraph) response using one of the below bulleted outlines. Cite details from the text over the course of your response that serve as examples and support.
1. Poe’s stories are often unclear about whether the mysterious occurrences are natural or supernatural.
2. Part of Poe’s style involves the creative use of syntax.
Discuss the words, details, and sentences that create a particular mood for that passage.
3. The author never provides the narrator’s name or background, except for the fact that he knew Roderick when they were children. As a result, the reader knows little about the narrator’s history or personality.
